Business Women’s Day: Women of Livetech

women of livetech

It’s Business Women’s Day. We live in a world where so many amazing businesswomen are finding success in their respective industries. We can look to Susan Wojcicki of Youtube, Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm and Lisa Su of AMD, who are all CEOs of their organisations.

Here at Livetech, we are pleased to have a brilliant and diverse workforce, including extremely capable professional women who work hard to provide quality web marketing services across the North Wales region and beyond.

To celebrate Business Women’s Day, we have decided to talk to a few members of the team to give them a chance to express their opinion on challenges that women may face in the workplace and how they overcame them to thrive in the industry.

Sarah:

“Equality is extremely important, especially in the workplace, as it ensures everyone has access to the same opportunities and the same, fair treatment.

Always make sure that you have a voice in your place of work, and try and have the confidence to speak up and ask questions. Everybody has something different to bring to the table, and just because others may have been in the workplace longer and have more experience than you, your opinion does matter.  Your input and fresh ideas, and possibly more modern ideas are how changes are made.

Women’s sensitivity, intuition and emotional intelligence all contribute to creating a well-balanced workforce.”

holly bakerHolly:

“For me, it’s important to get the message out there that ‘your opinion does matter, don’t be afraid to speak up.’ For so many young women who are getting into the working world, it can be difficult to feel heard especially if you work in a male dominant environment. I want to make sure that young women understand that their voice is just as important as everyone else’s. You will have a perspective on things that others may not have, so you must contribute your ideas. It can be a little daunting at first but with reward comes risk.”

Sacha:

“When you are getting going, it can be hard to show assertiveness in a working environment. It’s easy to feel like you only know a tiny fragment of what is such a large topic if you’re new to the business, but everyone will get there eventually. Confidence of course comes with experience, but there are some great resources online that you can find to point yourself in the right direction. Even just reading about other young women’s experiences starting a new job can help you feel as though you are doing fine! Focus on the value that you bring to your role; on giving your best, and not being the best.

Throwing yourself into the deep end with things will also work out in the end – you’ll find your place a lot quicker.”

To conclude, with a bit of perseverance and building confidence in your abilities, you can really make some great progress in the professional world.
