Giving you the tools to create
While we love creating content for our clients, we want to encourage those who work with us to be able to create content independently – this sets you up to win. As such, this article is a guide as to how you can easily create content online using social media to market your business. Before I get into it. I want to make the point to people to not overthink their content. All you need to do is your best with it – and then onto the next piece. You will get better and more confident with time.
Get on Twitter and tweet about what you are doing, thoughts on your industry, current affairs. Keep things broadly positive – the downside of Twitter is that people tend to go there and post negative stuff – not a good look! Tweet about the bright side of things and it will pay dividends down the line for you and your business. It could be an announcement of some news, or just some thoughts you have on news in your industry.
Take a photo of a day on the job, the staff hanging out at the office, a new achievement, a recent project or more. The great thing about this is that it can be shared on other platforms like Twitter and Facebook while being slightly reworded. This means that one piece of content turns into 3. Amazing.
This is your chance to say something on an industry level. The movers and shakers in your industry, or potential clients. Again, a lot of the content you would post on other platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are actually fine for this one too. You just have to write it slightly more professionally.
Make a graphic (or meme)
You may think this is pretty ‘yikes’ if you have next to no graphic design skills. For you, we recommend a site called Canva. It is so easy to use that it’s making plenty of graphic designers sweat as the power is starting to solidify in the hands of anybody with a computer or a smartphone. Thanks to the templates that exist there and the free stock photos, you can easily swap the text and images to make professional standard graphics without the overheads of graphic design computers and programmes.
Write a note, screenshot and post
Go into your notes app on your phone, write down a little essay on things like
- Your thoughts for the day
- Current goings-on at your business.
- Advice to people on this particular topic.
Then simply screenshot it and post it on a platform of your choice.
If you have a big personality or are comfortable on camera then all you need to do is open your camera app, point it at yourself and start talking. People will be interested in what you are thinking or have to say. While you might think that you don’t have anything interesting to say, you need to remember that it’s not for you – it’s for your viewers. All you have to do is provide valuable information – and post it!
Livestream on the job
Simply Livestream your day-to-day work.
If you are a drain cleaner, for example, get your colleague to Livestream you blasting some sewers clean. If you are a landscape gardener, then set up a tripod and film yourself digging away the dirt and let people watch you transform a garden!
Don’t overthink it! This content is valuable and capture’s people’s attention.
Taking photos is underrated. All you need to do is take a photo of something you are working on or something that interests you and post it with a little caption. It can go across all platforms and get across something that couldn’t be done with words.
While you may think that podcasts require a big studio with microphones and cameras to create, this isn’t necessarily true! As such you can use the Anchor app! This is the easiest way to make a podcast. All you need to do is open it up and hit record, talk as much as you want, about whatever you want, for as long as you want.
Polls are a great way to engage with your audience. Most apps and social media sites have a way of using these now. Simply open a poll with something that you would like to know about your audience. This gives the audience a chance for their opinion and voice to be heard – it’s fun too.
